Activities for Babies

Babies, kids love different toys and activities. Give them ample opportunity to develop their skills, for which we have to be really engaged with them. Few kids play on their own, wherein most of the kids want people to be near around.

Here are few activities for 6 months- 2 year kids.


  • Float toys in tub full of water and show it to baby to move it around in water with hands
  • Scroll the ball - take any cardboard or surface and slant it and ask the baby to leave/scroll the ball on it so that they see it rolling around.
  • Bubbles - Form bubbles in water or show how to produce  It strengthens cognitive skills.
  • Squish Squash - to strengthen health skills.
  • Following the rhythm - play the drum or xylophone and ask to be quiet when no noise and sing/ speak once drum beats or any music comes.
  • Hula time - Round ring around your body and move.
  • Drawfs and Giants - Jump like a Giant and then Bend to squats to pretend like Drawf. Switch between Drawf and Giant so that child notices the difference. It strengthens physical skills. My baby totally enjoys it and laughs out loud when I do for her.
  • On the Table - Place some blocks on the floor next to the baby and the table. Allow her to squat down to pick the blocks and place on the table.
  • Rhymes - Explain to child that there are both fast and slow rhymes using a tambouline. Ask the baby to dance when fast rhymes and when slow then slow down or stop. Develops cognitive skills.
  • Dancing with mom - Play music and dance with the baby. It develops cognitive skills.
  • At 1 year - Show photograph and ask them to recognize different family members.
  • Problem solving - Reinforcing Activity - Moving a car with stick. It's to develop the cognitive skill.
  • Building and Knocking down - It's mainly to strengthen the physical skills of babies.
  • Learning to use a fork - should use the silicon self baby led weaning fork or spoon. It's to strengthen the social and emotional skill.
  • Can you reach the sticky notes.
  • Copy - you can brush and ask the baby to brush too. Develops health skills.
  • Inside the Tube - Get a tube or make it and place few objects in it and ask baby to pull from inside.
  • Scaffolding 
  • Stacking - Stack one by one. To exercise babies fine motor skills. 

14 months

My baby loves going up and down the stairs holding our hands. At a time, she climbs up and down 10-11 stairs almost 10 times till I get exhausted  and make her leave😬. 

Watching other kids jumping on bed, baby 'S' too enjoys and jumps like crazy on the bed if have a company to jump.

15 months

Imitates about laughing, crying, shouting.

16 - 17 months

Loves educational toys like placing ABC on board, Clock numbers.

Stacks of different shapes and colors.

She runs blindly around the house or streets. Twice she has fallen and hurt his knee though didn't cry just said doommm😉.



18 months

Now she can fix the building blocks.

In terms of puzzle she wants us to do and then she loves breaking it all. 😈

19 months

Can play with moving object now like rotating moving musical dolls, cars, spinning toy.

She climbs on drawing table and while we are sitting, wants to jump from table to sofa, and loves that climbing and jumping activity.

In the play area, seeing others she too wants too with my support wants to climb up and hang in there and then of course leave hands to drop within 40-50 secs.

20 months

Loves playing Pee Ka boo with us.

21 months

Can climb up and down the stairs on her own.
