12 - 18 months baby Growth Milestones

Story of baby after 1 year - Toddler

Toddlers are super duper fast learner. You feel like they are not catching up, but in actual they observe and grasp things what they hear, feel and see around. Though few things they might not react/ show up immediately but sooner or later they do present it. Especially as they grow- if you laugh they will laugh, if they hear shouting they too will shout, if you get angry on them they too express back by throwing things/pulling/ pushing what's with them.
They too sometimes get possessive about their mom or dad or favorite things like toys or spoon glass.

During this phase, many a times my munchkin walks or runs on her tiptoes. Her food habit changed every quarterly, initially used to sit peacefully in highchair and eat. Then became fuzzy so started eating by watching rhymes in phone. Then after 3 months, want to play talk and eat which takes around 1 hr for every meal.
By now, She loves to walk independently, as she started walking without support from 10th month.

Here's our part of this super active Phase of my lil munchkin.

13 months

My baby spends a lot of time imitating. She babbles into the phone, uses the brush on her hair or pushes a toy car back and forth, like we will do.

Many a times, she initiates and engage in particular kind of game/play on her own and wants us to do the same. She imitate her peers’ behavior while crawling playing, "read" to you from a book or offer you to drink and eat.

Babies won’t distinguish between right or wrong behaviors to imitate, so we need to be sure to be a good role model for them —particularly now.

Her hand coordination is improving, to pick things from a small box, or put cap on sketch pens.
Her tantrums started for not eating food. Have to divert her most of the time to eat.

14 months

She has started kicking with feet especially the playing balls.
She speaks/ repeats many a words. Loves taking shower and getting wrapped in towel.

Tries to jump and do exercise like we do hands up, neck movement, leg up, lie down.

15 months

She understands the expression book and can dictate or role play as 'cry', 'laugh', 'shout', 'walk', 'run', 'swim', 'jump'. By this time her running has improved.

She got fever in between for 2 nights luckily recovered within 3 days by giving uphamol (paracetamol).

As it was season of flu, kids were getting cough from one other, the same got her too, initially tried home remedies like honey pepper, honey ginger, mustard oil massage, but didn't work so went to Pediatrician on 4th day where she was given nebulizer, cough syrup and deflame, but then after 5 days also didn't stop fully, so then started with homeopathy. I found homeo effective for her.

She learnt saying 'No' now, it seems to be her favorite word especially while eating. Kicks a ball, also on kicking after or throwing goes after that object to pick. Gave her crayons and paper and herein she scribbled.

Clearly recognizes most parts of the body like hair, hand, fingers, leg, nose, eyes, mouth, tongue, ear. Learnt taking out sound of dog, monkey, lion, duck and cat. Also started loving my cosmetics, dupattas and our exercise stuffs.

16 months

Has started becoming possessive about her mother, even doesn't like to see mom dad touching or loving together, initially she used to cry or separate the two, eventually when she noticed it doesn't help, she cribs a bit then goes far off and sleep or sit alone though keeping an eye, on us.

She still gets up 2-4 times at night. And looks out only for 1 thing.
Repeats many single words that we speak like pasta, soup, alu, chicken, Good girl, actually most of the single words that we tell her she can speak with her baby touch tone.

Few times she climbed the stairs on her own that's without any hand holding. Can get down 1 step down without support. Had picked up speed in running.

She now clearly recognizes the figure and calls respectively mumma, papa, daddu, aunty, her own name.

Knows how to use many objects like comb, brush, cream.
She recognizes and pronounces images in book like duck, dog, cat, car, shoes, socks, eat, bath, sleep, apple, flower (acts like smelling through nose).

By end of this month, she started jumping with both legs in the air. She is able to tell the illustrations in her books. Shows if any mark of anything like lipstick or pen on her hand or anywhere in body.

17 months

Many babies start speaking 2-3 words or repeats as you speak, wherein few won't speak except for mama papa. Lil one now picks more faster, learnt new words like nani, mamu, chota chota, Tv, clock, pantol, thermometer, her fav eatable items like apple makhana banana, open closed, up down... basically it's almost 80% of the single words that we speak to her and now recognizes most of the people who she sees often.

Babies usually become defensive when we ask them not to do anything.. like she throws whatever is in her hand if we object her not to touch or do that.

For the first time she scribbled the wall with sketch pen and again twice as soon as she gets pen pencil and sees if none is watching her or she didn't find paper, she just goes towards wall and scribbles.

One of the milestone - she knows her name upon asking. So happy to hear her name in that sweet baby language. On telling her to name our mom dad name, she could repeat that too in baby tone.

She started reacting whenever wants to pee or poo by saying  'susu', 'badboo' (as described by her dad).🤣 Says 'please' when she wanna go anywhere to do something that shouldn't be done, like switch on the lights. Her favorite game is switching on the lights. Have taught her to say 'thank you' and many a times she tells thank you on her own when she gets her fav things.

Her afternoon sleep is around 1.5-3 hrs, At night she gets up 2-4 times. Luckily 2-3 days she slept full night when I went lucky. Her diet has improved though it is only possible by showing her rhymes.

Just showed her once to climb on stool to wash hands, and she now gets up on the stool on her own, though it's under our supervision.
She knows (can point out and also can speak) all the outer body parts like hair shoulder neck tummy knee toe and all, and names familiar objects.
She loves animals, when we take her out for walk, she always goes after dogs and cats. In eve, as soon as we get ready, she understands and says 'ghumma ghumma' and brings her shoes to us to make her wear and ready to go out.

Recognizes and points out ant(chitti), lizard, flies(makhi), insect (kira).

She now realizes the pain and cries or reacts on it especially when got vaccinated. Kids can be diverted very soon, many a times she has hurt her knees while running but as she's in playful mode she doesn't cry and if cries, you just love them or divert towards any other activity and they forget the pain for that moment.

18 months

Have started becoming particular about people. As in so far used to go to anyone, but from this month she was very particular about whom to go for which work, doesn't want to go to strangers.

Toddlers get cranky during the teething time or have many other issues like fever, loose motion. My toddler too went through during this month as after 5 teeth her 6-7 teeth were popping out all together. I was guided for a teething homeo medicine for them, it's BC 21, really found it very effective during the intially. This time our stock was over and couldn't get the medicine in market due to lockdown.

She is now fully equipped to when she has to go pee or poo. She speaks out to us, whenever she feels she wanna go to washroom. By the end of this month, after telling us pee.. on making her sit, she even quietly sits on main cummod and does pee/poo.

Now, recognizes properly and calls out by name whom she sees very often. The best part is she is able to communicate with her action or major 2-3 words that she had grasp, about what happened with or around her. If she's stuck/leg stuck she says 'atak', if falls 'doomm', If hurts 'lagi', 'come', cooking, working, cleaning, sit, go, come, open, closed/band, light off, water/mum, pen, can spell out all fruits(orange, apple, banana, grapes, papaya, coconut, watermelon), veggies (alu, onion, bhindi), even laptop, helicopter.

Now a days, she knows what not to do, but then to get attention she will purposely do that and show to us 🙆.

During this phase she started making pout(that's when she's surprised or something she not getting or did something faulty). Kisses by lips, sometimes open hers mouth to love 😂.

She climbed up the bar chair on her own and loves sitting, though can't get down from there.

She runs around and wants to jump too, because of which she has hurt her knees twice which led to blood too. But then in play she doesn't realize the pain though later on points her knees and says 'dommm, ahh' 😂 .

Now a days, pulls out the leaves of plants. Kids really learn and wants to implement what they see around. This  1- 1 1/2 yr year phase is really a fast learning phase for toddlers.

Here's a short glimpse of these 6 months that's from 1 year - 1 1/2 year..
