Babies Growth Activities 1- 6 months

My lil angel came in my arms on 13th September, 2019 afternoon in Gleaneagles Hospital, Kuala Lumpur. I wanted to deliver naturally and so could I and  it was really a pleasure having my hubby by my side and baby in my arms. She was directly put over my chest, bit covered with blood, her eyes were opened looking around. Nurse took her aside, then could hear her cry, they wiped her, measured her weight, she had normal weight, height and head circumference. Doctor was telling, lovely princess with opened eyes and sharp nose.

Got her home after 3 days in a luxury car with my in laws. I stayed extra days purposely in hospital to learn latching, bathing and get proper rest. She was welcomed home with full love and prayers by my in laws. As it was haze issue going on in KL, so all time we had to close all the windows and gates and kept her in normal room temperature and when days were warm then in Air Con.

I can never forget, our first night at home, was a nightmare. As first half my lil one slept but then from 2 am she took feed, slept and woke again in an hour, again took feed but woke in half an hour and then while feeding was crying. We assumed her tummy not getting full. My hubby called so many pharmacies as because of holiday that day, most of the shops were closed, finally Tung sin hospital was open and had formula powder pack (Enfalac), so he went at 4 am to purchase formula milk. We fed her, then finally she slept at 6 am, and then we could sleep too.
It was because in hospital from 3rd day, formula feed was started twice a day to baby by the nurses.

New born just take feed, sleep, cry and poop. Latching/ Feeding is a different experience in itself. Different moms have different experience with their babies. It's very important that babies latch properly, otherwise it can be troublesome and time consuming as well. Babies mouth should be wide open and cover the areola.

Babies intially can only see blur image of far off objects. When we bring our face near them then they observe us. My lil one since starting had been an observer, keeps looking around and observing people and their activities.

Umbilical cords are usually there between 1- 2 weeks. One should let it fall on its own, and be very careful about umbilical cord cleaning. We were given alcohol swabs from hospital to clean it. Everyday twice my hubby used to clean all around cord of baby with 2-3 different swabs. Exactly after a week at night, after feeding while putting her to sleep, her umbilical cord fell nearby me. I was happy and amazed to see it. I have stored it.

At hospital baby was given bath from day 1 by the nurses. On 3rd day I went to see how they gave shower and the next day I tried holding her and give bath. They mix the baby liquid soap in water and splash and rub on baby, then separately keep clean water and splash, clean, wipe and moisturize them. Believe me, it's so difficult to hold new born and give shower, I just could make her bath from front, found difficulty in turning her, so handed over to nurse for further bath, wipe and change clothes. After coming home, initially 3-4 days we just wiped her with wet soft towel and changed her cloths. Make sure to only make the babies wear 100% cotton cloths. Then swaddle them with a swaddler as they feel cozy and safe.

At home, We started with her massage and proper bath once her umbilical cord fell off. These initial months are critical for the babies, few of them they do have colic/ gas problem. My baby had for few days in 1st 2nd month, but then was fine by natural ways (applying hing paste).

Intial 3 months babies neck are not stable, so one should hold the baby very carefully and with neck support. During this phase, also donot pull the baby from their arms.

2 months
While sleeping, she turned side ways at 2.5 months.. I saw her but someone told it might be with some support as it's really too early. But then in next 2-3 days she again turned, then My helper observed and excitedly told me" Mam, she turned left side". Initially she used to just turn once and that too towards left side.

My lil one loved the fan.. she was so happy seeing the fan moving as if it's her fantasy 😜 She used to continuously look above at the moving fan and smile.
She started tracking objects with her eyes.
Everyday used to give her bath and swaddle her. she became really strong to take out her hands and feet from the swaddle wrap. Slowly, by end of month we removed wrapping her in swaddler.
I used to feed baby formula milk once at night before sleeping.
We give her body massage by Olive oil.

3 months
For the first time she took 4-5 turns on bed while  sleeping and she came to the corner of the bed near my foot, and luckily I was sitting beside her, or else she must have fallen that day. By 3 and a half month she actually started rolling.
She blabber ' Amma, bua, Abbu' few times in her these intial months.
She started bringing her hands together and holding any toys/cloths given to her or put nearby her.
She's a tag lover, Anywhere and everywhere she will find the tags of various stuffs like toys, her cloths, sheets, or wherever she finds a tag she will start playing with it and many a times taking in her mouth.

4 months
She used to roll around, and started taking her neck and arms up. Sometimes she used to just take her bump up and head used to be down. It's so joyful to watch them.
She started full on blabbling, especially da da da..
She started reaching out for her mobile hanging.
One day when she saw her shadow, she continuously starred at it, then was trying to catch her reflection. It was super fun to watch her out.
During this phase we made her in a habit to sleep on her own in the cot.

5 months
She rolls around the whole bed and twist herself to get any object or to reach to us.
She tried getting her full body up and did it, then used to do like an animal front and back movement.
Started recognizing her name and responding to it.
Many babies start army crawling but my lil one never did that, though i have seen one of my close friend baby doing army crawling and she was really fast, totally loved to watch her doing that. She took her first crawling step by mid of this month in Jaipur. It was cold in India, so used to give her massage with mustard oil to give her the warmth.

6 months
She started crawling a week before her 6 month birthday. We were in my Hometown in Deoghar and she was busy crawling on the bed and blabbering with grandparents. We traveled back to Kuala Lumpur, luckily whole flight journey she was sleeping, though cried a bit during landing. We put cotton in her ears all through and as guided I fed her while take off and landing. It was this phase when Covid spread across more in India and Malaysia, so during the lock down she was full crawling around in my hall.
She was able to sit, later sit on her knees and then hold anything and stand. She is super active. Her Pediatrician kept her name as 'Chilli Padi' (In malaysia that means lean, tall and active)
During day time, she usually sleeps 2-3 times. One nap in first half and other during early evening and each used to be usually for 1-2 hrs. She loves playing pee-ka-boo (I myself or cover her with cloth and she was able to remove the cloth by herself) and happy to see us both again.
Her sleep pattern got disturbed, she wanted us to make her sleep, so either feed her it cuddle her to sleep.

Every 2-3 months had to go hospital for her vaccination. These 6 months are the best period with the babies. We all family members totally enjoyed her this phase.
